About Appalachian Counseling Center
Appalachian Counseling Center is a private practice offering comprehensive mental health and behavioral medicine services. Our philosophy is one of respect for the individual with recognition and involvement of the many systems which can create stress. Our goal is to quickly and aggressively assist ourpatients in the development of personal resources necessary for more successful coping.
Alan M. Katz, Ph.D., Clinical Director
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Clinical Neuropsychologist

Dr. Katz holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego, CA. He has also been trained as a School Psychologist and is experienced in treating children’s learning and emotional problems. Dr. Katz has received post-doctoral training in neuropsychology, behavioral medicine, and family therapy at the Medical College of Georgia. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatric Medicine, University of Virginia School of Medicine (Roanoke Program). Dr. Katz specializes in neuropsychological and psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults who present with symptoms of depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorders. He also maintains an active psychotherapy practice with a cognitive-behavioral orientation.
Klaire T. Mundy, Psy.D. 
Licensed Clinical Psychologist

 Dr. Mundy holds a Psy.D. from Argosy University in Washington, DC and specializes in treatment of and psychological evaluations for children, adolescents and adults. Her practice includes patients with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, adjustment issues, ADHD with a cognitive behavioral orientation. 
Dr. Mundy has 15 years of mental health experience in the areas of emergency mental health, inpatient and outpatient treatment, case management and trauma related disorders. She also provides assessment services to assist with identifying ADHD, learning disorders, psychiatric and personality disorders.

Andrea Scott LPC. 
Part time in evening. Family and marital counseling, depression, anxiety, adolescents and adults, ~30 years of mental health services.
